Swatches: Maybelline Rebel Bouquet Lipsticks
Care for a slash of summertime color on this gloomy, rainy day? Check out Maybelline's new lippie collection, the Rebel Bouquet Lipsticks (P299). These are supposed to be pastel shades but a majority of the colors are quite bright! The lippies feature a shiny, jelly finish that's sure to make your lips look plump and pouty.
The texture is smooth, although it's the kind that has to go on completely dry lips if you want to avoid streaking. Pigmentation is patchy in some shades. It's easy to fix - just add another layer and you'll get a fair amount of opacity. As for the staying power, it's pretty average at three hours if you don't eat or drink. ^_^ Still not too shabby for 299 bucks!
Some shades look rather similar so I did a side-by-side swatch, as well as a full face swatch. You'll be able to appreciate the difference more versus my usual lip swatches!
REB02 is a bright mid-toned pink. REB03 is almost but not quite the same; it leans towards a coral-ly hue. REB04 is a spunky tomato red, while REB05 is an orangey red. REB06 is a dainty, pastel peach. I love the shade, but I wish it has more opacity! REB07 is a mauve pink with a red tint. It's ultra wearable and perfect for morenas.
REB08 is a bubblegum pink, warm enough to look good on Asian skin. REB09 is a blue-based red, while REB10 is a fuchsia pink.
My top picks are REB07, REB06, and REB03. These three shades should be a good addition to any lipstick wardrobe, and can mix together beautifully. ^_^
Overall, I like the Maybelline Rebel Bouquet Lipstick. The price is right, and there are some remarkable shades that should flatter any skin tone. As long as you don't have too high of an expectation when it comes to staying power and texture, you'll enjoy this!
