The one look to rule them all
If I can only wear one look for the rest of my life, what would it be? I thought that this would be a difficult question to answer, but it wasn’t. I already know my style and have a well-loved selection of Holy Grail products so it was a breeze to choose my ultimate look!
Let’s start with makeup. I’ve experimented quite a bit since I got into cosmetics so if you asked me the above question five years ago, I’d have probably panicked, haha. I’ve gone for a face that looks like a Crayola box had a field day on it; I’ve walked the “no makeup” makeup route, but my favorite would be red lipstick paired with neutral cat eyes. I feel that it’s flattering on me, and it matches my personality! Most important of all is that it’s a timeless, elegant combination. It can be dressed up or down and I would always feel glamorous.
My fave red lipstick is none other than - guess - Russian Red. I’ve tried dozens of reds but this one is the sexiest, most unforgettable of them all! As for nails, I normally go naked. Yes, I love nail polish but my default is bare nails most days. I like to keep my nails clean because I hate having to fuss about whether they look good with my outfit or not. I’m OC like that! I also don’t like how nail polish makes my nails feel chalky and dry.
I’m glad I came across Locycare Nail Gel, a new product by Galderma. It’s a clear, scentless gel that hydrates the nails, decreases discoloration, and promotes healthy nail regrowth. I’ve been using it for a few weeks now and I’ve noticed that my cuticles are alive again, plus my nail bed has lightened! My nails also don’t feel like yucky dry shells.
I usually leave this in my bag and then apply it while I’m stuck in traffic. That way, I never forget! It just takes a few minutes to dry so it’s not a hassle at all. It leaves a bit of a glossy finish once dry but it becomes matte later on. ^_^
And now, the outfit. I love black and white since they are so versatile and classic - I’m always in these colors even when I’m in somewhere as casual as a supermarket or glam as, say, a five star hotel. Here I’m wearing a black romper from Ever New, a white jacket from Stradivarius, and nude heels from Charles & Keith. You’ve probably already seen me in this look before. That’s how much I love it!
For me, classic and versatile pieces are the way to go. A trendy look is exciting now but ten years down the road you’re going to regret the mullet skirt and galaxy tights (if you aren’t already). Same with purple lipstick and glitter bomb nails! It’s fun to indulge every so often but basics are forever.
