Beauty Throwdown: Which Trending Glossy Lip Tint Should You Get?

Glossy tints promise the best of both worlds: the lasting power of a lip stain combined with the hydration of a balm—definitely appealing if, like me, your lips tend to dry out easily. While some brands clearly label their products as glossy tints, others get creative with names like dewy, glaze, or splash. For this Beauty Throwdown, I’ve rounded up six of the most buzzed-about glossy tints to compare how they stack up in terms of stain, price, hydration, and, of course, glossiness. Let’s find out which one emerges as the winner!

Rom&nd Juicy Lasting Tint in Bare Vine (~P374 via Shopee Official Store)

5.5g = P68/g

Minimal Transfer

Extensive Shade Range (39 and counting)

Stain 4.5/5

Moisture 3/5

Gloss 5/5

Let’s kick things off with one of the trendiest Korean glossy lip tints: Rom&nd Juicy Lasting Tint. It’s making waves for its ultra-glossy finish, wide shade range, and local availability (they’re finally in Watsons stores!). Rom&nd promises "plump lips with high-pigment tints" while keeping things lightweight and non-sticky. Even after the gloss fades, a soft tint remains. If you follow Liz on social media, you may have caught her reel featuring Rom&nd lip products, including another shade from the Juicy Lasting line.

I’ve got shade 33 Bare Vine, a muted mauve pink inspired by—you guessed it—grapes! Specifically, the bare skin of grapes, which fits perfectly into the fruit-inspired names of this range. The doe-foot applicator is standard, but if you’re after that perfect glossy look, TikTok (@sarahkchey) suggests a game-changing method: apply a layer at the center of your lips, let it set without pressing them together, then add more on the outer edges to blend. Finish with another layer in the center for that high-shine effect. I tried this hack, and it definitely made me appreciate the product more—it lives up to the hype!

The transfer is minimal, though it does fade after eating, leaving behind an even stain. You’ll likely need to touch up post-meal, but overall, it’s a solid contender for anyone after long-lasting gloss with a gorgeous tint.

Benefit Splashtint Moisturizing Dewy Lip Tint in Summer Fling (P1,590)

6ml = P265/ml

Minimal Transfer

12 Shades but some may not be available locally

Stain 4.5/5

Moisture 4.5/5

Gloss 4.5/5

The next glossy tint on the list was released locally last August, and I had the chance to review three shades. What I didn’t get to highlight back then is that the Benefit Splashtint is also made in Korea! This tint promises "a splash of moisturizing, kiss-proof color with a juicy, dewy finish," while smoothing fine lip lines and being comfortable enough to wear all day. Its key ingredients—Hyaluronic Acid, Goji Berry Seed Oil, and Glycerin—are all about keeping your lips hydrated and smooth. Another standout feature is the custom applicator with a concave spoon shape and flat side. It picks up just a tiny amount of product each time, which means I usually dip back into the tube 3-4 times for a full application. While some might find that annoying, I actually appreciate the control it gives me over how much product I use. Plus, the curved shape fits my lips perfectly.

The shade I have, Summer Fling, is described as a mauve rose, though on me it leans more rosy than mauve. In terms of gloss, it really lives up to its “dewy” name—it leaves my lips looking like they’ve been brushed with a watery sheen. Keep in mind that you need to let the product set for a bit before you can fully appreciate the gloss. It’s also one of the more moisturizing tints on this list and leaves a nice, even stain once the gloss fades.

Cipi Cipi Dewy Film Tint in Cheerful Pink (Y1320=P521)

2.8g = P186.07/g

Some Pigment Transfer

13 Shades but not easily accessible in the PH

Stain 4/5

Moisture 4.5/5

Gloss 5/5

On my trip to Japan a couple of months ago, I finally got my hands on a Cipi Cipi Lip Tint (or two!) since it’s not available here in the Philippines. I had been seeing it all over TikTok and couldn’t resist the curiosity. Even though it’s a Japanese brand, I was surprised to find out that the product is actually made in Korea! This water tint promises lasting moisture and vivid color, with a glossy film top coat to make your lips look full and plump. It comes with a reservoir tip applicator, which has a pointed end and a small dip in the middle where the product pools. While the pointed tip is great for shaping the lips, I’m not a huge fan of the dip—I find that I have to scrape off some product to get a more controlled application. The tint itself covers my lips almost like a liquid lipstick but gives the shiny finish of a lip gloss.

I picked the shade Cheerful Pink, which is described as "a burst of cuteness in pure pink," though on me, it’s not the cutesy pink I expected—it’s actually quite pigmented. That said, it’s still a really lovely pink! The stain it leaves behind after a meal is decent, but there is some transfer, so you might want to avoid trying on clothes while wearing it. As for moisture, I’m happy to report that it doesn’t dry out my lips, which is always a win!

Happy Skin Lip Jelly in Pink Lemonade (P499)

3ml = P166.33/ml

Minimal Pigment Transfer

6 Shades

Stain 4/5

Moisture 4/5

Gloss 5/5

Moving on to the Filipino brands, the Happy Skin Lip Jelly is made in Taiwan and promises "a lightweight, comfortable yet incredibly budge-proof layer of naturally glossy, juicily pigmented color." It also doubles as a primer, smoothing and filling in the lips for a more even finish. Of course, no Happy Skin product would be complete without skin-friendly ingredients—this time, it’s packed with Hyaluronic Essence Complex and Squalane for added hydration. The Lip Jelly features a curved applicator with a long flat side designed to hug the lips, but I find it a bit too curved, which results in scooping out more product than I need. Its thinner consistency also requires a bit more precision when applying to the corners of the lips.

The shade I have, Pink Lemonade, is described as a muted peach, and Happy Skin claims its "true-to-tone shades apply as they appear on the bottle." It leaves a strong stain and works well as a base for long-wearing lip color. I love how lightweight this feels on the lips, though it does transfer a little.

Issy Gelee Moisturizing Lip Tint in Coquette (P349)

5ml = P69.8/ml

Minimal Pigment Transfer

10 Shades

Stain 4.5/5

Moisture 4/5

Gloss 3.5/5

Another popular offering from a Filipino brand is the Issy Gelee Lip Tint, made in the PRC, which promises to "glaze the surface with luscious color and nourishing shine while leaving a natural-looking, flattering stain underneath." Its nourishing effect comes from Fructooligosaccharides and Undaria Pinnatifida (Algae) Extract. The tint uses a slightly angled doe-foot applicator, which makes it easy to apply. The shade range is quite commendable, featuring a nice variety of peaches, pinks, mauves, and browns—perfect for that MLBB (My Lips But Better) look.

The shade I have, Coquette, is described as a soft peachy pink, though it leans more peach than pink on my lips. The stain it leaves behind is impressive, and I really appreciate the affordable price point and the edgier design of the packaging. I’d love to see more shades added to the line in the future—maybe a red would be a great addition!

GRWM Tinted Lip Glaze in Strawberry (P299)

3.5ml = P85.43/ml, Minimal Pigment Transfer

12 Shades but plenty are sold out online

Stain 4.5/5

Moisture 3.5/5

Gloss 4/5

The final Filipino brand on today’s list, also made in the PRC, promises "a hydrating tinted lip stain with a glossy finish, rich color payoff, and a lightweight formula." It comes with a slanted doe-foot applicator for easy application, and key ingredients like Glycerin, Vitamin E, and Seaweed Extract are included to keep the lips hydrated. I’m impressed with the coverage of this Tinted Lip Glaze, especially considering how light it feels on the lips—you can barely see the outline of my lips after application, which I love.

The shade Strawberry is described as a warm berry pink, and it shows up just that way on my lips. Personally, I wish it leaned a bit cooler, but that’s just a matter of preference. It’s still a great choice if you’re looking for a warm-toned pink that adds a lively touch to your lips. The stain it leaves behind after a meal is decent as well, making it a solid pick if you’re after a long-lasting tint.

Swatches from L-R: Rom&nd Juicy Lasting Tint in 33 Bare Vine, Benefit Splashtint in Summer Fling, Cipi Cipi Dewy Film Tint in Cheerful Pink, Happy Skin Lip Jelly in Pink Lemonade, Issy Gelee Moisturizing Lip Tint in Coquette, GRWM Tinted Lip Glaze in Strawberry

Stains from L-R: Rom&nd Juicy Lasting Tint in 33 Bare Vine, Benefit Splashtint in Summer Fling, Cipi Cipi Dewy Film Tint in Cheerful Pink, Happy Skin Lip Jelly in Pink Lemonade, Issy Gelee Moisturizing Lip Tint in Coquette, GRWM Tinted Lip Glaze in Strawberry

This selection of Glossy Tints is such a solid lineup that it’s hard to pick just one winner! But if I had to choose my personal favorite without considering the price, it would be the Benefit Splashtint (13.5/15). I find myself reaching for this the most—I really enjoy both the applicator and the formula. When it comes to pigment and glossiness, though, the Cipi Cipi (13.5/15) is the clear winner. I’m honestly tempted to get more shades because my lips just look so juicy and smooth with it on. Fingers crossed it becomes more readily available here in the Philippines soon!

For the best value and the most well-balanced in terms of individual scores, it’s a three-way tie between the Issy Gelee Moisturizing Lip Tint (12/15), the GRWM Tinted Lip Glaze (12/15), and the Rom&nd Juicy Lasting Tint (12.5/15). Although Happy Skin Lip Jelly (13/15) scored higher, its limited shade range and nearly double the price per ml compared to Issy and GRWM makes it less accessible. GRWM offers great gloss and 12 shades, but most of them are currently out of stock online. If you’re after a glossy finish with a wide range of shades, Rom&nd is your go-to. For a more trend-forward shade selection, even if it’s not as glossy, Issy Gelee is a great pick.

Now, what about you? What’s your favorite glossy tint?
