Good Molecules Brings You Beauty With Nothing to Hide

Nothing is worse than trying a new skincare product hoping for healthy, beautiful skin and instead getting a horrible skin reaction and breaking out. With every product promising the best results, it can be hard to figure out what ingredients we like and don’t like especially when products don’t share the most comprehensive of ingredient lists. And with everyone’s skin being unique, how is a skincare newbie supposed to wade through everything and find the perfect product for them? Lucky for us, there’s Good Molecules, whose approach to beauty is that “They Have Nothing to Hide”.

Because everyone’s skin is different and can react differently to ingredients and actives, it’s important to get to know your skin and tailor your regimen using ingredients that serve you well. Good Molecules makes it easy by listing all the ingredients on the side of each of their products, simplifying the research needed during the buying process. The brand is all about mindful consumption while preventing waste and overbuying, which is a goal I think we should all aim for.

Project Vanity was invited to the launch of their newest products Good Molecules Vitamin C Serum with Oryzanol (P895/30ml) and Good Molecules Mandelic Acid Serum (P645/30ml) and we got to know their newest Four for One serums!

Vitamin C Serum with Oryzanol

The first Four for One serum is the Vitamin C Serum with Oryzanol with four active ingredients to answer four common skincare problems. Ingredients like 5% ascorbyl glucoside, 1% kojic acid ester, 3% magnesium ascorbyl phosphate, and 1% oryzanol combine to brighten skin tone, improve the look of fine lines, repair sun damage, and improve skin elasticity.

One of the things I loved most about Good Molecules’ Vitamin C is the intentional packaging. To ensure the efficacy of their vitamin C they’ve used a pump that reduces exposure to both sun and air ensuring that the active ingredients remain stable for longer compared to other vitamin Cs. This vitamin C serum is thicker and more cream like than most other serums leading to a more moisturized feel after application. If you’re looking for your first vitamin C, this is a good one to check out.

Mandelic Acid Serum

The second Four for One serum is the Mandelic Acid Serum, mandelic acid being an ingredient I had not encountered before. The serum delivers gentle skin exfoliation with no compromise with ingredients like 1% phytic acid, hyaluronic acid, glucolactone, and of course 10% mandelic acid. Gentle exfoliation comes with refined skin texture, promotion of collagen production, improvement of fine lines, and reversing signs of skin aging. The product does have a unique smell that is strong enough to tell but mild enough to ignore.

This exfoliating serum is not a daily use serum and is recommended to be used up to four times a week. Due to my sensitive and dry skin I don’t like to use exfoliators often as it can exacerbate my skin condition but after the mandelic acid serum I can see that a little gentle exfoliation still has a place in my skincare regimen. I think the gentle exfoliation worked to unveil smoother and brighter skin as well as reduce the appearance of some dark spots on my forehead.

Before...

...and after, using the mandelic acid serum twice a week for two weeks.

Now if you’re a fan of layering products, we do want to say it is not recommend to layer these two products together. Instead, if using the Mandelic Acid Serum you can layer it with niacinamide or hyaluronic acids while avoiding retinols and other BHA and AHA ingredients. This is because the active ingredients in the mandelic acid serum can react with the actives in the vitamin C and other products. The extensive ingredient list on the side of each product will help you find matching products for ingredients that work well together.

Good Molecules prides themselves on their quality ingredients and proudly display this in their Nothing to Hide Ingredient List that breaks down every ingredient and their percent composition all for the sake of transparency.
