I am no newbie when it comes to eyelash extensions. I’ve already tried a number of different lash salons in the Metro, even the expensive ones, but everything seemed to just have left an okay mark on me - until I got to try Tokyo Glam’s Glam Lash.

In times of massive uncertainty and change such as the one we live in now, economists have noticed a behavior called the Lipstick Effect. This describes how consumers still tend to buy small luxury items (like premium cosmetics and trips to the cinema) during recessions or when they personally do not have much cash. Makeup doesn’t stop being a mood booster when things go south, so we don’t stop trying to be beautiful despite our situation.

I’m usually willing to try anything once but one beauty procedure I’ve held back on is lash treatments. I’ve been scared of getting anything done to my lashes because they might damage my eyes and maybe even cause permanent blindness in the worst case scenario. To enhance my eye makeup game, I’ve been making do with a good lash curler and hoarding my fave P600 Japanese mascara. But let’s be honest: no amount of curling or mascara applications will ever result in a look like Sam’s fabulous lashes!

I’ve lost count of all the times I’ve done a full face of makeup but forgotten to curl my lashes or apply mascara. My eyes end up looking dead and my makeup uneven. I feel like this is the beauty equivalent of showing up in a fantastic outfit with bare feet, so I’ve taken to packing along a mascara and a curler in my kikay kit! But do you know how difficult it is to comb and curl lashes in a moving vehicle? It’s a (potentially painful) disaster waiting to happen.

We often talk about “painful” beauty treatments but there’s another aspect of pain that no one really tackles: long wait times! I consider myself a Patient Patty when it comes to waiting during treatments (my parents are doctors and I’m used to waiting around the clinics), especially since I frequently have my hair bleached and colored and that takes aaaaalllll damn day.
