Heart’s Latest Art: The new Happy Skin x Love Marie Lipstick Collection

Third time’s the charm, they say, but for Heart Evangelista Escudero and Happy Skin, this third collection feels like icing on the cake! Their first collaboration was back in 2016, when Liz got to interview Heart and even take a peek into her makeup kit. That first collection was such a bestseller, they decided to launch two of the mini lipsticks in full-size last year. I was able to meet Heart then, and found out her choice for the perfect lippies – classic all the way in reds and nudes. This time around, Happy Skin x Love Marie promises to let us get more creative with our lippies as Heart does with her art because, as she says, “Your lips, your canvas!”

With 3 different finishes and 6 wearable shades, the collection is all custom made and personalized by Heart. The gorgeous packaging even features her “Cathedral” painting, which was a part of her first ever art exhibit. The shade names also hold a special piece of Heart: Missy was her first role on TV (raise your hand if you’re a G-mik fan like me!) while Love Me was a phrase she used to empower herself as a little girl.

 I had the three lip liners from the first collection and the two Shut Up and Kiss Me Lippies from last year. They all perform well so I have been looking forward to this collection. 

Happy Skin x Love Marie Moisturizing Matte Lippie in Love Me (P649 for 3.5g)

Love Me is a wearable nude peach shade. It is a hint more brown than last year’s Skinny Dipping, which makes me prefer it as a straightforward neutral. The Moisturizing Matte Lippie formula is as good as ever and lasts around 3 to 5 hours provided I don’t eat so much. The inclusion of moisturizing cupuacu butter is something I really appreciate as I can use this on the go without applying a separate lip balm.

Happy Skin x Love Marie Vivid Cotton Lip Mousse in Heart (P649 for 4g)

The Vivid Cotton Lip Mousse formula debuted in the second Happy Skin x Disney Collection. It got great reviews so I was looking forward to trying it out. I have to say, I really love the packaging of the two in this collection! The green tubes look so chic and sophisticated, reminiscent of Heart’s personal style. The shade Heart is a muted take on Heart’s signature red pout, compared to last year’s Heartthrob which leans cool. This is a brick red shade that can be applied as a slight stain or full on pigment. I really like this new formula, though the applicator can give you a hard time if you over click excitedly like I did.  Wear time is decent at 3 hours if I don’t eat. It leaves a light tint though so I just purse my lips to even them out a bit.

Happy Skin x Love Marie Vivid Cotton Lip Mousse in My Story (P649 for 4g)

My Story is my favorite shade out of the bunch. The nude pink has a slight touch of coral that makes it look really flattering on my skin tone. A special bonus: Happy Skin says that you can use the Lip Mousses on the eyes and cheeks as well! And since I’m all about multi-tasking products now, this gives My Story extra plus points in my book. On my eyes and cheeks, they wear quite long. It lasted through the entire KathDen movie, post-movie chika, dinner, and post-dinner tambay - easily somewhere around 6 to 7 hours.

Happy Skin x Love Marie Cooling Lip Gloss in Missy (P599 for 3.5g)

The Cooling Lip Gloss is such a treat. Not only does it stay true to the cooling claim, it even leaves a tint which is most welcome on my normally pale lips. Missy is a mauve gloss that can be everyone’s go-to. Reapplication is a must though, as with all glosses, and this one lasts around 2 hours sans eating.

A Moment‘s natural pink tint is my preferred shade out of the two glosses. I like how it makes my lips look healthy, plump, and well-moisturized.

To stay true to Heart’s custom lipstick creations, Happy Skin has these two bundles to help us mix up our own hue. The Happy Skin X Love Marie Matte Lippie & Lip Gloss Bundle (P1,148) comes with Love Me and Missy, plus a special Love Marie pouch. I like the idea of this combination as they’re the perfect example of taking your makeup look from day to night. Use Love Me for your desk job then layer Missy on top as you go out to party!

There’s also the Happy Skin X Love Marie Cotton Mousse & Lip Gloss Bundle, which comes with My Story and A Moment. I really love the layered color of these two as the gloss gives that healthy sheen over my favorite Happy Skin x Love Marie lipstick shade.

I’m seriously loving Heart’s latest collection with Happy Skin. The custom shades are nuanced, and the packaging reflects Heart’s elegant style. I’m even thinking of getting one of the bundles just to get my hands on that red Love Marie pouch! 

While Heart may seem like she’s everywhere at the moment with her series of successful collaborations, I am actually looking forward to the next Happy Skin x Love Marie.
