A Love Letter In Skincare: The In Her Element Fresh Start Scrub Wash

I know that In Her Element, my company’s proudly Filipino-made skincare brand, has been quiet for a while. Honestly, it’s been a struggle for us post-pandemic as we deal with mounting costs of raw materials and manufacturing. We’re a very small brand and I felt lost about what to do with it for a while. So I decided to go back to just making things for the pure joy of it. That’s who I am, and that is who I’ve always been. Today, I’m excited to finally share with you one of those things!
The In Her Element Fresh Start Scrub Wash (P385/ 40 grams in Shopee / Lazada) is a low pH powder facial wash that’s formulated to gently exfoliate skin. If you’re dealing with oily skin, rough texture and clogged pores, this one is for you! It has fine cellulose scrub beads (biodegrable, of course, as it’s made from wood pulp) to help flaky skin and solidified oil and dirt come off easier. It has pink kaolin clay to help trap oil and wash it off more effectively without being harsh, plus niacinamide for brightening over time.
As with all the cleansers we’ve released in the past, this is low pH at a pH of 6 - 6.5. This is so that our skin’s acidic moisture barrier is inact while cleansing, keeping it working happily to regulate the skin’s natural functions. I personally haven’t used a high pH cleanser for maybe eight years now so it’s very important to me that this one is also pH-friendly to skin.
This cleanser has no added fragrance as it’s not needed in the formulation. It smells just, well, clean with a hint of earthy clay!
I know a powder format for a cleanser may seem a bit daunting, but it’s super easy to use. Just shake the bottle, then pour out a tiny amount of powder into your palm. Then, add water and lather, before placing the lathered product onto your skin. Scrub in circular motions - avoiding your eyes - and then rinse it off. That’s it!
I use this everyday when my skin is flaky or when I feel like my pores are super clogged (like if I went out all day wearing makeup), but when my skin is in its normal state, I use it just every couple of days with a gel cleanser.
Before I go, you may be wondering: why bother formulating this? Well, there’s this powder scrub cleanser with beads that I love but it’s sooo expensive. It’s so good, but it’s definitely not an easy buy considering it’s something I use so often. That’s why I came up with this along with our chemists, to make this type of physical exfoliation a bit more accessible in the Philippines.
I hope you can give In Her Element another chance and try out our new facial wash. Thank you, always, for being here despite all the changes through the years. I’m grateful. Please, let me know if you have any questions!
