A Love Letter In Skincare: The In Her Element Fresh Start Scrub Wash
I know that In Her Element, my company’s proudly Filipino-made skincare brand, has been quiet for a while. Honestly, it’s been a struggle for us post-pandemic as we deal with mounting costs of raw materials and manufacturing. We’re a very small brand and I felt lost about what to do with it for a while. So I decided to go back to just making things for the pure joy of it. That’s who I am, and that is who I’ve always been. Today, I’m excited to finally share with you one of those things!
The In Her Element Fresh Start Scrub Wash (P385/ 40 grams in Shopee / Lazada) is a low pH powder facial wash that’s formulated to gently exfoliate skin. If you’re dealing with oily skin, rough texture and clogged pores, this one is for you!
Worried about rough skin? These are the 3 products you NEED in your routine ASAP
Long before glass skin became a trend, I had already been longing for clear and smooth skin. I struggle with hormonal acne, and I’ve inherited my parents’ skin issues like uneven texture and huge pores. Learning to accept my skin has not been easy but I now know that even for peopIe with generally good skin, this level of perfection is unrealistic. While I no longer obsess with it as before, I’ve found that I can reduce the appearance of my skin texture by incorporating certain products into my routine. Read on to know what they are!
Purifying Indulgence at the Facial Care Centre
"You've never had a face mask unless you've had one at the Facial Care Centre." That's what kept going through my head as the attendant carefully moulded a thick layer of gel-like seaweed mask on my face, followed by a a paste-like mineral mask that hardened after a few minutes.
But I am getting way ahead of myself! A couple of weeks ago, Facial Care Centre invited me to try one of their famous facials. I was way overdue for one so I just had to go. The location was their new clinic in Eastwood so even though it was out of the way for me, I still made the trip.
Hotel-like rooms
Of course, you do not just go in FCC and ask for a treatment. You have to see one of their in-house dermatologists first to find out which of the facials will suit you best.
Strivectin-SD Instant Retexturizing Scrub
When I first used the Strivectin-SD Instant Retexturing Scrub, I immediately thought: "Oooh! It's a facial in a tube!" My face felt as if it just came out of a 30-minute facial, which is saying a lot for a couple of minutes of scrubbing. My skin was moisturized, smooth ("retexturized"?) and my pores were flushed out.
What I like most about this scrub is that the beads are very fine, so the skin doesn't feel rubbed raw after using it. The product felt gentle on my face, but Strivectin strictly recommends that you use it only twice a week because of its potency.
St. Ives Blemish and Blackhead Control facial scrub
I had high hopes for the St. Ives Blemish and Blackhead Control scrub (P195). I have too many blemishes lately and I'm desperate for a solution! On a visit to Purebeauty in Serendra a couple of weeks back, I bought this intriguing product to see if it's any good.
It's not. It makes my face feel amazing - but the downside is, it makes me look like total crap. Yep, it broke me out, which is weird because it's supposed to have salicylic acid.
