Review + Swatches of K-Palette’s new universally flattering lippies

While K-Palette remains to be a crowd favorite in the kilay department, this universally-loved Japanese brand has also brought us some keepers on the lip and cheek front. And if you’re like me who still has a lot of reverence for classic bullet lipsticks, you’ll want to check out all four Pinay-friendly shades of the K-Palette Lasting Lip Tint Stick (P795 each at Beauty Box Corp. or P2,880 for the full 4-piece set).

Now let’s get something straight: K-Palette’s definition of “lip tint” is obviously not the same as the Korean version. In this case, it’s more like a generously pigmented lip balm. The formula mainly focuses on lip care, featuring ingredients like ceramide, sodium hyaluronate, and shea butter. The priority is definitely keeping the pout moist and comfy.

When applied, the tints give a creamy, velvety glide and a significant amount of pigment in a single swipe. The texture is somewhere between a lip balm and a lipstick, hydrating but also delivering this well-coated feeling. And just like tinted lip balm, the color doesn't quite set completely. On the plus side, it is easy to correct any mistakes making it beginner-friendly. I just wouldn't advise pressing your lips together after application as the color tends to migrate to the outer areas of the lips.

Now here’s an interesting tidbit: this particular line was a collaboration with K-Palette Philippines to specifically curate colors that would be universally flattering on Pinay skin. There's Paprika Red, a true red that leans just the tiniest bit warm. Mauve Crush is a plum-tempered mauve pink. Orange Sunset is a warm, peachy terracotta. Woody Nude is a warm nude pinkish-brown that kind of reminds me of MAC Whirl. All four lippies have a satin-matte finish and medium shade intensity.

What I find so special about this collection is how the lip tint sticks' appearance progresses as they're worn. First, they photograph beautifully, looking so HD vibrant on cam. IRL, they're a little more mellow but just as flattering. As the formula naturally starts to dry out and the slight sheen gives way to a more matte finish, the colors take on a worn/blotted look that come across as effortlessly pretty. These lipsticks are everyday wearable, so I feel that they are sulit.

As for wear time, reapplication is a must after meals. Most of the color will come off after eating and drinking, and I have not noticed any stain left on the lips. That’s why I was a little confused as to why they fall under the 1 Day Tattoo label. The comfortable moisture lasts for up to 3 hours before feeling fully dry.

Out of the four, my favorite shade is Mauve Crush as I have always been a sucker for plummy pinks and I find that it works well on my pale skin. What are your thoughts on K-Palette's universally pretty lippies?
