Love: The Lush Dream Cream is heaven-sent for dry hands

Constant hand AND dish washing both make it easy for my hands to dry up like a prune if I don’t watch it. I use gentle cleansers yes, and I moisturize regularly, but sometimes I need a heavy hitter like the Lush Dream Cream Hand and Body Lotion (P345/45 g and P1,150/240g at Lush PH). The Lush Philippines team sent this to me a couple of months back - they have an online store btw! - so I’ve been testing it out. The verdict? It works.

This is a lotion but it feels like a soothing balm to the hands. It’s thick upon first application so I use it when I know I won’t need to type anything for a while, but it does get absorbed eventually and will stop being sticky. It requires patience, but it pays off in grateful hands that do not feel like the desert. This is rich in oils like olive oil and shea butter, mixed with water-based emollients like oat milk and rose water.

The Dream Cream has the calming scent of oat, milk, and chamomile which makes it a nice add-on to my evening routine. If you like the scent of Lush’s Sleepy Lotion, it’s very much the same scent profile. I like the smell of Sleepy more but as I recall it’s not as rich a moisturizer as Dream Cream.

Lush calls this product “self-preserving” and I am curious. There’s no preservative in the ingredients list, and it contains water-based ingredients that should spoil pretty fast as they are mixed with oils. But they don’t. Well, I suppose they have a short lifespan at just over a year from production and Lush labels it “best used fresh”. My experience with the Sleepy Lotion shows that it will turn rancid near the expiration date so yes, I will use this ASAP.

In any case, my hands just drink up the Lush Dream Cream, so I’m sure I’ll finish this 45 gram jar in no time! How about you - what’s your favorite hand cream?
