My new daily fave: The Maybelline Sky High Mascara
People always ask me if I’ve tried or want to try the lash lift procedure. We’ve had writers on Project Vanity do a review before, but I personally think it’s not for me. I prefer to rely on really, really good mascaras instead! I know the power of long, voluminous lashes in framing my eyes, so I rarely skip mascara (only on gym day).
I first heard about the Maybelline Sky High Mascara about a year ago, but I couldn’t get my hands on it because it wasn’t available in the Philippines. Finally, it’s here! I bought it from Lazada for P499 from the Maybelline Flagship Store. It arrived practically the next day.
Let me do a quick rundown of its pros and cons!
What I love about it:
This creates exceptional length and volume on my short, straight lashes. One layer looks pretty great already, but two layers can make it look like I have falsies already.
I love how it separates my lashes and allow them to fan out, like a doll’s.
I love that it holds the curl all day - no droopy lashes here!
It’s really black and matte so I don’t even need to bother with eyeliner unless I want to.
I find the packaging so premium, especially with the embossed letters.
This is a tube mascara so it comes off easily with an oil cleanser - a welcome break from Heroine Make or even Canmake mascara removal.
Neutral:
The wand has the stubby bristles, which are effective in combing the mascara through the lashes. I do wish the wand is a little bit smaller as I tend to get mascara on my hooded lids.
What I don’t like about it:
Unlike the Falsies Lash Lift mascara, this smudges a bit at the edges when worn for hours. It’s very easy to fix with just a finger or tissue since the smudging is minimal but coming from Lash Lift, this is disappointing.
P499 for a Maybelline mascara is a bit expensive no? The Falsies Lash Lift is P399 only; Lash Sensational is just P299. Maybe it’s priced like that because it’s new?
Overall
I love the Maybelline Sky High Mascara for everyday since it gives me the lashes I want without the hassle of removing my more bullet-proof mascaras. I gotta say: that’s a pretty huge pain point - mascara removal - for Heroine Make, Canmake, and Majolica Majorca. The smudging for me is an issue but only a minor one, as what’s important is it still looks great at the end of the day!
BUT is Sky High Better than The Falsies Lash Lift? In terms of appearance, absolutely! It delivers thicker, longer, and blacker lashes IMHO. But in terms of staying power, Lash Lift is more dependable. Choose accordingly na lang.
