Your cheeks will thank you for the NARS Orgasm On The Beach Collection

What makes a makeup product iconic? Many things are pretty, but reaching icon status requires passing the test of time. The product has to be universally flattering (not just on different skin tones but with other products), wear on the skin well in terms of staying power, and a good deal in terms of cost-per-wear. THE NARS Orgasm blush definitely passes all these categories with passing colors! (Get it?)
Recently NARS expanded the Orgasm universe with a new cheek palette and a jumbo version of the beloved blush. Let’s take a look!
The first time I opened the Orgasm On The Beach Cheek Palette (P3,500 at NARS Beauty Butler), I literally let out an involuntary “woooow”. The rose gold packaging itself is beautiful, but inside are six heart-stopping shades that are meant to spice up your complexion repertoire.
There’s Turtle Bay, a subtle peach champagne shimmer and Naples, a metallic rose gold both for highlighting all over the face. Then there’s Mandalay, which is a satiny bronzer with caramel tones, that look great as a quick contour/face warmer-upper for extra definition. Montezuma for me is a revelation. It’s a golden peach that looks amazing as a shimmery nude blush on my medium skin tone!
Then of course there’s Orgasm, the classic peachy pink with gold shimmer and finally Zuma, a rouge red. I find Zuma a bit of a tricky color, but it’s great as eyeshadow and as a tiny (and I mean, tiny) hint on the cheeks. It stains too, so it won’t fade easily even on oily skin. The important thing is to use the faintest amount to get this color going, otherwise it can look too ruddy.
Above I wore the Orgasm blush on my cheeks, Turtle Bay highlighter, and a mix of Zuma and Mandalay on myeyes as eyeshadow. How fresh and easy is that?
As with most NARS face products, these wear well on skin, even under a mask. I’d say these blushes stay for about 5 hours on my combination skin, which is a good amount of time in this humidity. I like combining the different shades to achieve different looks on my eyes and cheeks, since they mix well due to their measured translucency.
I think at P3,500, you’re getting the best of what NARS has to offer in the complexion color department. I love that we get a range of colors that can play with several eye and lip makeup tones. Plus, it will take forever to finish up too since you get 3 grams of each color. Expect to use it for years and years!
NARS also released a limited edition Orgasm Blush Jumbo (P2,250 at NARS Beauty Butler) for fans of the color. The normal size is 4.8 grams - a lot already, actually - and this jumbo size has 8 grams! I don’t think I’ve been able to finish a NARS blush before it expires, so I would recommend the jumbo size if you use it every singe day as a makeup artist or share it with, say, your sister or mom (or any close relations, after sanitizing of course).
And that’s it! Let me know what you think of Orgasm and Orgasm On The Beach. I swear I still giggle internally every time I hear the name of this blush color.
