Nature Republic have outdone themselves once again with their latest brand trip, the Sun Safe Soiree. Just last year the Sun Safe Club went up to Masungi Georeserve to put their sunscreen through its paces as they climbed to new heights. This year they found a new testing ground on the beaches of La Union and - spoiler alert - armed with the California Aloe Fresh Powdery Sun Stick we aced every test the summer sun could throw at us! I’m glad that my first ever brand trip was with Nature Republic because they sure know how to have a great time and I want to tell you guys all about it!

Arriving in La Union

We arrived in La Union just in time for lunch at Fatwave Surf Resort where we would be staying for the weekend. After settling in we got ready for an afternoon of beachside mingling with a happy hour to get to know one another. With a tasty cocktail in one hand and sunscreen stick in the other for easy reapplication, it was turning out to be a skincare girlies’ dream weekend.

Sunrise Yoga and more

The next day started bright and early with sunrise yoga with Celine Encarnacion, a health coach, and our yoga teacher for the morning. Moving through the poses and breathing through the stretches we were confident of our sun protection provided by our Nature Republic sunscreen sticks. The SPF and PA protection is unbelievable, not even an hour of direct sun could give me a sunburn or a noticeable tan. Although Celine did have us turn through poses to evenly sun each side (haha).

Our weekend was wrapped up with a celebratory brand lunch after a short message from Nature Republic Philippines president Darrel Sia. He proudly shared that this was their grandest venture yet and was happy to have shared his love for the brand and sun protection with people who appreciate it just as much as he does.

We were then spoiled by Fatwave Surf Resort with sumptuous meals and delectable desserts from La Gula bakery (their lemon meringue pie is to die for).

But at the core of the brand trip is the brand and the product, of course. When you’re in the perfect setting to test out sunscreen, it’s hard not to fall in love! It’s especially hard because there’s an entire line to choose from.

California Aloe Line of Summer Protection

The entire California Aloe line protects with the power of SPF 50 and PA++++. The SPF 50 blocks 98% of UVB rays while PA ++++ thoroughly protects against UVA rays. If you’re not familiar with the difference, UVA penetrates deep into the skin and can lead to cell damage and premature aging while UVB is responsible for color change in the skin that can lead to a tan or sunburn. This makes Nature Republic sunscreen a broad spectrum sunscreen, protecting against skin damage, sunburns, and tans.

The star of our getaway weekend and for good reason! This was perfect sunscreen for on-the-go reapplication during our nonstop weekend. It has a comfortable texture that dries down powdery instead of sticky while still giving you a healthy sunkissed glow. Wear it not just on your face but extend it down to the neck, collarbones, and chest.

California Aloe Moisturizing Tone Up Sun Block SPF50+PA++++ (P1,145/57ml)

To the uninitiated tone up sunscreens may initially look like they give a dreaded white cast but trust me when I say they’re different. The tone up formula is intentional and is great before makeup as it serves as a base to fix and adhere the makeup to the skin. The sunscreen dries down velvety instead of powdery and works to even out skin tone before makeup.

California Aloe Daily Sun Block SPF50+PA++++ (P525/57ml)

The Daily Sunblock has a pink formula to give a mild color correcting effect. This would work great with a skin tint if you’re aiming for minimal makeup but still want to have the benefits of a great complexion and glowy natural looking skin.

California Aloe Aqua Jumbo Sunscreen SPF50+ PA++++ (P1,195/250ml)

The Aqua Jumbo sunscreen has the most watery texture in the entire line, making it great for body use. The thin waterproof formula makes it perfect for outdoor activities while still providing moisture and sun protection. Be protected and worry free as you bike, surf, and enjoy the summer.
