Tipid Tip: How makeup artists can get a discount at the SM Beauty Section

We do a lot of things for our love of beauty. A true-blue makeup addict signs up for workshops, spends hours watching tutorials on YouTube, and religiously visits beauty sites (like Project Vanity!) not just for reviews but to learn more about their passion. We may be able to perfect our arches as well as our wings but it's a whole different ball game to be a professional makeup artist. Whether here or abroad, the hours of training and practice under qualified instructors translate into product and technique know-how that you can only attain in a formal setting.

Apart from short courses, the tuition fees required to enroll in one of the top makeup schools can cost a good bit of money. Going into full-on career mode and stocking up on tools of the trade is especially expensive, as makeup artists usually use high quality products that they have to get in multiple shades to suit different client needs. If you’re a fledgling makeup artist, the costs of starting up can be heavy so every bit of savings can go a long way!

With that in mind, The SM Store Beauty Section recognizes the talents who make the local beauty scene a more vibrant place to be. To make pro kit-building more fun and affordable, beauty professionals can now get special perks with the new SM Beauty PRO-Card. The black privilege pass entitles pro makeup artists to a year-round 10% discount at The SM Beauty Section, as well as exclusive event invites and previews of the latest beauty releases.

The program was hosted by Bianca Valerio and Shamcey Supsup

Applying for membership is simple: the artist must simply send their portfolios via email to smbeautyph@gmail.com. Once approved, they will be issued their own PRO-Card and can already start shopping!

Over 200 makeup artists were present for the Pro Card's big reveal, wherein three pro makeup artists participated in a showdown. The trio worked their magic to create a personal spin on the ever-popular mermaid makeup theme. Guests then got to vote on their favorite look, and voters of the winning entry were automatically entered in a raffle draw to win some fab prizes from the event’s brand partners. The showdown winner, Muriel Jada Nubla, fashioned metallic fish scales on her model and used a statement-making shimmery blue on the lips for a mystical, monochromatic look.
