Last week, I had the pleasure of visiting the Mitsukoshi BGC store to join in the celebration of Pili Ani's new flagship store. It was an afternoon filled with Pinoy Pride as I got to explore one of the pioneering brands of Filipino skincare in the global market. What made the event even more special was the appearance of the one and only Bretman Rock, who brought his signature style and personality to the celebration.

I recently attended the grand launch of the new Hyper Real skincare line by MAC, and it was an afternoon filled with beauty and skin artistry! Held at Greenbelt 5, Fashion Walk, the launch was attended by press, influencers, beauty enthusiasts, and makeup artists alike.

The elegant and energetic Issa Litton hosted the event. She kicked off the celebration with a Skin Artistry demo led by top celebrity makeup artist MK Qua.

Filipino brand Chu Chu Beauty launched a super sparkly collection just in time for their birthday, and I’m here to share some swatches! Chu Chu in my opinion is the underrated younger sister of Issy & Co., with lots to offer to makeup beginners as well as those who just want to add a little bit of magic to a basic makeup routine.

Before we dive into the first beauty roundup this year, any beauty resolutions? Mine’s simple - to wear makeup more! I should probably challenge myself to wear makeup every single day - similar to what fellow writer Abiele Bernardo did last year! 

I've been on a roll lately with trying out skin tints! The hot weather regardless of the time of the year is perfect for using these. Supposedly lighter in feel and coverage than my well-liked tinted moisturizers, this type of base makeup provides glowy, even skin.

The Maybelline Fit Me Fresh Tint with Vitamin C (P399) is a "2-in-1 makeup and skincare product". The makeup part comes from its light coverage while the skincare part comes from the Vitamin C which may help brighten skin over time.

I have to admit that I love using high end facial skincare products because they tend to work better than most things I can find in the drugstore. It really shows on the face when a brand is using good quality actives in high concentrations! I definitely don’t mind splurging for something that truly works. However, there is one drugstore brand that I can swear by when it comes to skincare. It’s something I always recommend to those on a budget because it’s iconic for a reason: Hada Labo.

This year has seen such a rapid development in the quality and diversity of local makeup product options and with just a little under two months left to 2022, Filipino brands do not seem to have any plans of slowing down.
