New Filipino Brand Alert: Beauty Architect Brushes
Did you know that there’s a new Filipino brand, and it’s all about hypoallergenic brushes? Meet Beauty Architect, which just launched last July. Their brushes are vegan, cruelty-free, and hypoallergenic as they use only synthetic bristles. They have tools available as singles or in sets, as in the case of the Beauty Builder Tool Kit (P1,880) which I am reviewing today.
This kit contains six brushes for the face, eyes, and brows. I like that the brushes are curated and can do a full look easily! While I have dozens of brushes at this point, I only really need a few to complete my usual personal makeup. Of course it’s a different story when I’m doing makeup on other people (did I mention that I do that now? Just for fun!) so I always appreciate having different options for different needs.
The kit has a Powder Brush - large and domed, just the way I like it. I find the synthetic bristles to be soft, although I feel like a lot of modern synthetic brushes already available have finer bristles. Nevertheless, this works well when it comes to applying both loose and pressed powder and getting a good, seamless blend.
There’s also an angled Contour Brush, which can be used for bronzers, contour powders, and blushes. Since the bristles are synthetic, this brush can play with powder, cream, or liquid formats! I appreciate that. I wish it were more dense but it applies the product evenly in any case.
I find the Foundation Brush to be weakest in this set. I’ve come across countless brushes exactly like this, across different price points, over the years. There are more modern options for a synthetic foundation brush these days. Still, I keep this in my makeup artist kit because while I don’t personally enjoy this particular brush for myself, I find that this classic shape works well for clients especially when blending in the under eye area and concealer.
I like the Eyeshadow and bullet-shaped Blending Brush because they feel like natural hair, despite being synthetic. These are great for applying powder eyeshadows due to their shape - perfect for Asian eyes as they’re not too big! The Small Angled Brush is good for applying eyebrow pomade, and eyeliner if you are going for a thicker line. It’s not for precision work but it does the job.
All brushes have a textured ferrule which looks super premium, and a burnished matte metallic deep turquoise handle. Quite pretty! It looks expensive.
Overall, I find the Beauty Architect Beauty Builder Tool Kit to be a good start for a new local brand focusing on tools. I’ll be keeping these brushes in my professional kit for sure! I’m looking forward to more options from the brand in the future.
