Beauty Roundup: New Careline Loose Powder Shades, Happy Skin Smart Shade Match Foundation, Colourette Lip Screen, and SkinPotions Relaunch
Let’s welcome April with an all-local Beauty News Roundup! I am pleased to report that this week’s new launches from our homegrown beauty brands can definitely help keep us looking and feeling great through the sizzling summer heat. Careline Cosmetics has released new shade options for their bestselling Loose Powder. In true Happy Skin fashion, their newest Smart Shade Match Foundation is a tone-adapting sunscreen with SPF 50 PA++++. Meet Colourette’s new limited-edition release: the Lip Screen, a deliciously-scented lippy that protects from the sun with SPF 20 PA++++. Last but definitely not the least, SkinPotions is back after a long hiatus, bringing back fan favorites and launching a new day cream with SPF.

New Careline Loose Powder Shades
There are very good reasons why Careline Mattifying Loose Powder (P245, 5.5g) is one of the brand’s most popular products, with over 9,500 sold on Shopee alone. It combats oiliness and locks in makeup for a matte look that lasts all day, with a very affordable price tag. It is also non-comedogenic and suitable for all skin types. The only downside would probably be that it originally came in only two shade options.

The two original shades are Sugar (pinkish matte recommended for fair to light skin tones) and Cinnamon (matte powder recommended for medium to deep skin tones). The two new shades are universal and will work well on all skin tones. Rose is a peachy loose powder that brightens the complexion with a fresh, soft-glow finish. Translucent sets makeup and controls shine without changing your base shade.

Happy Skin Smart Shade Match Foundation
This one’s for those looking to simplify their beauty routines this summer. Meet Happy Skin Smart Shade Match Foundation SPF 50 PA+++ (P1,099), a hybrid that applies as a white sunscreen and transforms into a true-to-tone skin tint!

Because it’s happy skin, you already know it has all the good stuff. Aside from giving SPF 50 PA++++ UV protection, it is formulated with active ingredients that keep your skin nourished. Squalane and Hyaluronic Acid deliver lasting hydration and help soften the skin. Ceramide III relieves irritated skin, supporting skin barrier repair. Vitamin C and Strawberry Begonia protect skin from skin-aging free radicals and help brighten dark spots. The sulfate-free, paraben-free, cruelty-free, and non-comedogenic formulation is free from irritants and is safe to use for all skin types.

All the guesswork for shade-matching has been taken out of the equation by the tone-adapt formula. There are only two color options: Light Beige for those with warm undertones, and Soft Beige for those with neutral undertones. It yields medium coverage and blurs imperfections, leaving a skin-like finish.

Not gonna lie, this one has colored me intrigued! I wonder if it truly can deliver a good shade match, decent coverage, and sun protection across all skin tones. Curious, too? Check it out at the Happy Skin boutique nearest you. The Happy Skin Smart Shade Match Foundation SPF50 PA++++ is also available online via Shopee, Lazada, and Tiktok Shop.

Colourette Lip Screen
“Hydration, protection, and shine in one swipe,” is probably the best way to explain Colourette’s new limited-edition release, the Lip Screen (P399). The hydrating formula prevents dryness and chapping, protects from the sun with SPF 20 PA++++, and imparts a subtle tint and high-shine finish for juicy lips.

It is formulated with Octinoxate, Octisalate, and Avobenzone, giving the ultimate protection with four UV filters. Infused with Squalane and Camellia Seed Oil, Lip Screen keeps lips hydrated and nourished without the sticky feel. All of these make for a versatile formula that can be used for lip prep, as a topper, or worn alone.

Lip Screen comes in three (3) shades with distinct scents! Yes, you read that right, each shade has its own delicious fragrance: Shell (neutral pink) smells like berry, Coral (classic peach) has an apple scent, and Tan (sandy taupe) is vanilla-scented.

SkinPotions is Back!
On March 31st, SkinPotions resurfaced on their social media platforms with what looks like a renewed brand logo, and a short, sweet, and mysterious caption: “We’re back & better than ever.” The image features a new tagline under the logo that says, “We Glow Together,” with a tomato, peach slice, strawberry, and lash icons on each corner.

The new Snowberry Cream Day (P299) will also be introduced. Described as a “brightening water burst sun cream,” it protects the skin with SPF 35 PA+++. This looks like a promising addition to their glowing line-up.

I, for one, am happy that this local brand has come back after a two-year hiatus! I recall enjoying their Tomato Serum in a bottle and dropper format. The new packaging definitely looks more travel-friendly. I look forward to seeing the brand not just stage their comeback successfully, but eventually thrive and add color to the local beauty scene.
And that’s it for this week’s Beauty News Roundup? Which new release do you see yourself using this summer?
