Review + Swatches: The New Benefit Splashtints and Plushtints

When you think of OG lip tints, Benefit's Benetint instantly comes to mind. This iconic "rose-tinted lip & cheek stain" is adored by fans all over the world for its natural look. Shades like Floratint, Playtint, and Lovetint have also become bestsellers in their own right. So, when it comes to tints, we know we can always count on Benefit. Now, they’ve introduced their latest must-haves: Splashtint and Plushtint!

These new tints are perfect for refreshing your lip collection, offering versatile options whether you’re in the mood for a matte or dewy finish. They promise to be long-wearing, smudge-proof, water-resistant, and humidity-proof, while also delivering 8-hour moisture with the help of Hyaluronic Acid, Goji Berry Seed Oil, and Glycerin. Plus, you can layer them to easily build up the intensity to suit your style.

The Benefit Splashtint Moisturizing Dewy Lip Tint (P1,590) delivers a juicy, dewy finish that’s perfect for those who love a fresh, hydrated look. Its unique applicator features a "concave spoon shape" for mess-free application and a flat side to ensure even blending. With 12 shades to choose from, there’s something for everyone, though it’s worth noting that not all shades are available online.

Swatches from L-R: Benefit Plushtint in Red Velvet, French Toast, Cloud Fine, Benefit Splashtint in Tutti Frutti, Summer Fling, Honeymooner

Benefit suggests that you can achieve a gradient lip with the Splashtint by simply "gently blending color from the inner part of the lips outward." Unlike the 2-tone gradient trend from a few years ago, this modern take requires just one lip product. You can see it in action with the Tutti Frutti lip swatch. I used a single dip for the overall lip color, then added two more layers to intensify the color at the center.

The Plushtint Moisturizing Matte Lip Tint (P1,590) is designed for those who love a velvety, plush-matte finish on their lips. It’s a perfect balance of bold color and comfort, offering a soft matte look that doesn’t dry out your lips. The applicator is thoughtfully crafted with a "curved doe-foot shape" and cushiony-soft fibers, making it easy to outline your lips with precision and fill them in effortlessly. This design ensures that you get a clean, defined look every time, with the plushness adding to the overall luxurious feel.

Like the Splashtint, the Plushtint comes in 12 stunning shades, giving you plenty of options to match your mood or outfit. However, it's important to note that not all shades are available through online channels, so you might want to check in-store for the full range. Whether you're looking for a bold statement lip or a more subdued, everyday look, the Plushtint offers a versatile and comfortable option that can easily become a staple in your makeup collection.

Benefit Plushtints: French Toast

Cloud Fine

Red Velvet

I’ve been trying out the Plushtint in the shades Cloud Fine, French Toast, and Red Velvet, and I’m impressed with how straightforward the application is. The process is simple: you "define & line lips with the applicator tip, then fill in & blend using the curved sides." I have to say, the design of the applicator is a standout feature—it really makes it easy to get those clean, sharp edges. It picks up just the right amount of product, allowing for precise shaping and filling without any mess.

The formula of the Plushtint definitely lives up to its promise of being long-wearing and non-drying. Even though it’s a matte finish, which can sometimes make lips look a bit dry, it still feels comfortable throughout the day. However, as with most matte products, my lips do tend to appear drier compared to the glossier finish of the Splashtint.

Overall, I’m absolutely loving these two new tints from Benefit. As a huge lip tint fan, I’m thrilled to say that both formulas have quickly become favorites in my collection. The packaging is super cute, and I appreciate how easy it is to distinguish between the two—the Plush has a matte finish on the tube, while the Splash has a glossy one. Plus, there’s a little peek of the shade color at the bottom, which is a nice touch.

If I had to pick between the two, I’d go with the Splashtints. They give my lips a plump, healthy look that I can’t get enough of. While I do like the Plushtints, I find that my lip lines are a bit too pronounced to fully enjoy the matte finish. That said, the colors I have—especially Red Velvet—are fantastic. It’s a bold red that’s striking without being over the top.

So, what about you? Are you on Team Splashtint or Team Plushtint?

The Benefit Splashtints and Plushtints are available online in Sephora PH and Lazada, but like I mentioned earlier, some of the shades are not available at the time of writing this article. If you’d like to personally swatch and choose the shades, you can search for the store nearest you via the Benefit Philippines website.
