A Quick Review Of Happy Skin Off Duty: Backstage Honeymoon Glow Edition
I went through a makeup minimalism phase and back then, the Happy Skin Off Duty collection is one that grabbed my attention immediately. Clad in minimalist packaging, it had all you needed for a full makeup look, including multi-purpose products. That's why it’s pretty interesting to see where they are taking the collection next with the Happy Skin Off Duty: Backstage Honeymoon Glow Edition, centered around the iconic Honeymoon Glow lip shade.
Happy Skin's new Off Duty Collection is a celebration of radiance, featuring three standout products each priced at P999:
Off Duty Liquid Illuminizer: This lightweight liquid gel primer, available in Pearl and Honeymoon Glow, imparts a natural, buildable luminosity. It can be applied before, after, or blended with your base for a subtle yet stunning glow.
Off Duty Highlighting Face Palette: A quartet of shimmer-packed pressed powder hues, including Champagne Gold, Rose Gold, Pearlescent Pink, and Bronze Glow. This palette offers silky application for a dewy radiance.
Off Duty Eyeshadow Palette: Offering four richly pigmented shades in a mix of matte, glossy shimmer, and glitter finishes, these buttery baked powders in Honeymoon Glow and Neutrals are designed for smooth, crease-free application and versatile looks.
Each product in the collection is designed to enhance and illuminate, ensuring a glowing finish for any makeup style. Let’s go through two products that I have from this release!
Getting our Glow ON
When Happy Skin said “glow,” they really meant it as there are two products in the collection focused on highlighting. The Happy Skin Off Duty Liquid Illuminizer (P999) is a soft-focus lightweight priming illuminator which can be used alone or mixed with foundation. It confused me at first because the Honeymoon Glow shade was quite pink coming out of the bottle. There’s another shade, Pearl, and I was wondering if it would look too yellow. But then I remembered the popular Becca Shimmering Skin Perfectors back in the day and this works the same!
Happy Skin Off Duty Liquid Illuminizer in Honeymoon Glow (L: Swatched, R: Blended)
I used the Buffing Brush (P499) from the Happy Skin x Marj collab to spread it on my arm and it turned into a subtle, glowing layer with a bronze-y pink sheen. The Hyaluronic Acid, Squalane, and Vitamin E ingredients help in giving a fresh appearance to the skin.
The Illuminizer picks up the redness on my face so I like to apply the Happy Skin Tinted Moisturizer with it. This will be my go-to combination for using the product.
The Happy Skin Off Duty Highlighting Face Palette (P999) can add "a luxurious multidimensional glow" for those who prefer a powder format. It has four ultra-fine powders in the Honeymoon Glow Palette: Rosegold Shimmer, Champagne Glow, Bronze Glow, and Pearlescent Pink. These can be used separately for different areas of the face or blended together to create a healthy radiance. Hyaluronic Acid and Squalane are also included as ingredients to keep the powders from emphasizing dryness, textures or lines.
I’m honestly on the fence with this one as it combines the convenience in a palette reminiscent of the Dior Backstage ones but with sheerer color. The swatches show the different shades but on the face, the difference is really subtle. It is still nice to have and the glow is there, you just have to buff it well. I tried using it on my eyes which I do with other highlighters but it doesn’t work for that area. If you have fine lines, this formula may be a pass for you, as it is best to avoid shimmer so as not to emphasize texture.
Rounding up the collection is the Happy Skin Lip Cloud in Honeymoon Glow (P599). You may have seen Liz's review and swatches of the shade as part of the Happy Skin Off Duty Lip Cloud Matte Lipstick Full Collection. This pink rose shade has been popular since its release in 2014; it inspired the Honeymoon Glow collection in 2018 and was included in the Happy Skin Lip Mallows early this year. There are some differences in formulation and shade nuance throughout the years, but the color remains one of the popular ones today. Personally, the Happy Skin Lip Mallow Plush Matte Lip Tint version is my runaway favorite.
Overall, the new Happy Skin Off Duty: Backstage Honeymoon Glow Edition is a fun addition to a minimal makeup kit. It builds on the essentials from the Off Duty Second Skin collection as these were definitely missing from that selection.
