This beauty news is all about innovation. Did you know that there’s a product out there designed to immediately diagnose, treat, and color your lips? Everybody has probably tried a bath scrub, but how about a hair scrub? As for the eyes: a local brand has released an intriguing mascara that promises clump-free application, and an international drugstore beauty brand takes on colorful mascaras that just might complete your holiday look. Intrigued yet? Buckle up for another Beauty Roundup!
Customized lip care: Amorepacific innovates with Lipcure Beam
A few days ago, Korean beauty giant Amorepacific shared on their social media that they have been honored with the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 Innovation Award under the Digital Health category. The Lipcure Beam was designed to conveniently dispense a customized lip treatment with lip color with every application. The cover has a sensor that detects the skin status of the user’s lips. Once opened, the wand emits a customized light, maximizing the benefits of riboflavin (a natural vitamin infused in the formula). It also promises to deliver lip color that is universally flattering across skin tones.
There’s no word yet if this new product will be released to the public, but Amorepacific has already patented this innovation. Personally, I worry that gadgets might just be skincare gimmicks, but if there’s one beauty brand that has proven how seriously they take R & D and innovation, it’s Amorepacific. No wonder they’ve won the CES Innovation Award five years in a row!
Luxe Organix has a new scrub, and it’s for your scalp!
I’ve always avoided physical scrubs; my sensitive skin just can’t. I don’t want no scrubs, but homegrown brand Luxe Organix makes me want to try their new product Scalp Cleanse (P219 / 220g), a scalp scrub that also lathers like a shampoo! The formula contains scalp-caring ingredients like sea salt, biotin, amino acid, and panthenol. Combined with the scrub formula, it should help eliminate scalp build-up to hopefully encourage more hair growth and lessen dandruff. Get yours at Watsons stores, or Watsons online via website or Shopee. Act quick because as of writing, it’s already sold out on Luxe Organix’s Official Lazada Shop!
Falsies in a bottle courtesy of Blk Cosmetics
One of my pet peeves is mascara clumping my lashes together. I panic when it happens right after application, and by the time I’d find my lash comb, the formula would have dried, making it difficult to separate the lashes. So I was intrigued when I spied Blk Cosmetics’ new addition to their Daydream Collection: False Lash Waterproof Mascara (P399). It has a lash comb built right into the mascara wand! Smart! We haven’t tried it yet, but it promises an instant falsies effect with a waterproof and smudge-proof formula. If you’re looking for a local mascara to try, this might be a great place to start.
Maybelline gives us Sky High color
A while back, Liz shared her favorite daily mascara, Maybelline Sky High Mascara (P499). A few months ago, the brand locally released it in a new color: Cosmic Black, a deeper, truer black compared to the original formula. It came in a black tube, distinguishing it from the metallic pink packaging of the original. This week, Maybelline released even more colors of the Sky High Mascara: Pink Air, Burgundy Haze, and Blue Mist! Sadly, these cuties aren’t available locally just yet. Let’s all hope Maybelline will bring them to our shores.
And that’s it for this week’s beauty news! I’m happy to see the beauty world evolving based on new consumer needs with the help of advancing technology. Do you have fresh ideas for new beauty product concepts? I’d love to hear them, so leave a comment below!
