Seaweed for your face? We test it using Human Nature’s Marine Caviar HydroMiracle line

From snail mucin to sunflower oil, many skincare lovers swear by certain natural ingredients as must-haves in their routine. While I don’t have a go-to just yet, this latest ingredient from Human Nature is a pretty strong contender. I usually have latô along with my favorite inihaw dishes, but I never thought it would be the star ingredient in Human Nature’s Marine Caviar HydroMiracle skincare line!

This new beauty duo promises to help you #SeaYourSkinGlow as they’ve turned the vitamin-enriched lato into a “skincare super ingredient.” The seaweed from Bohol boasts of hygroscopic properties, which help in retaining our skin’s moisture day and night. Seaweed is also packed with nutrients that “help restore, renew, and replenish our skin.” These are big claims from the 10-year strong homegrown brand, and I was excited to find out if they were true.

Human Nature Marine Caviar HydroMiracle Face Cleanser (P275 for 100ml, 98.93% naturally-derived)

The Marine Caviar HydroMiracle Face Cleanser comes in a 100ml tube packaging. I like how it highlights the star ingredient and how easy it is to dispense the product. It is quite refreshing on the face and you can definitely feel the “fine bamboo exfoliants”. I’ve been using it for a week now and I can really see a difference, especially when it comes to my nose area! I didn’t need to use my BHA pore cleaner as often as the HydroMiracle Face Cleanser does a good job on its own.

I even tried to use it to remove full foundation at night (because HN’s respondents said that it could in the promo video), and I’m happy to report that it did leave little to no residue. I just couldn’t get it close to my eye area because I didn’t want any particles to get into my eyes. It’s still best to use a separate makeup remover and double cleanse (especially for eye makeup), but it’s nice to know that I can remove base makeup with this product in a pinch.

I feel that this cleanser works best in the mornings for me, as it has a somewhat cooling sensation that helps in waking me up. Do note that this contains scrubby particles so it may be too abrasive for everyday use.

Human Nature Marine Caviar HydroMiracle Moisturizer (P495 for 50ml, 99.89% naturally-derived)

The Marine Caviar HydroMiracle Moisturizer comes in a pump bottle that can dispense from a half pump to a full pump. This turned out to be an important feature as this moisturizer is best applied in small doses and multiple layers. Applying a full pump of product all in one go seems to make it harder for the skin to absorb, so what I do is to apply half a pump first, let it absorb, then layer another half pump on top. It may sound like a lot but this moisturizer actually feels light to touch.

This moisturizer is a real “a little goes a long way” product. It is also a one stop product for me as I find that I can wear this on its own - without toner or serums - and still have well-moisturized skin. I was actually surprised by this because I’ve been dealing with extra dry and dehydrated skin lately, and have needed to layer my skincare to correct it. With this moisturizer, I get a soft, almost matte finish after application, and I can easily wear foundation on top without getting dry patches.

Marine Caviar HydroMiracle Face Cleanser and Marine Caviar HydroMiracle Moisturizer

This is latô salad! Notice how the “leaves” look like caviar, which inspired the name for the line.

It has been a pleasant experience for me trying out this seaweed-infused line, and I’m very happy with how my skin looks these days! The line provides enough moisturization for me to get through the day (and even at night with aircon) though if I really want to amp up the benefits, my skin type could probably still use an additional serum for some targeted needs. The moisturizer also might be a bit too moisturizing for oily skin types, but for those with dry to normal skin, this might just be that quick fix skincare pairing you need!

How do you feel about latô for the face? Will you try out this new skincare line?
