Clinique has a gift set for everyone in your life - here's 12 to choose from (plus, some reviews!)
Merry Cliniquemas! We recently went to the brand’s Holiday Preview in SM Mega Fashion Hall, and were dazzled by the numerous skincare, makeup, body, and fragrance sets curated for seemingly everyone. It’s like Ophra saying, “You get a set! You get a set! You get a set!”
There are ten new BDJ planners for 2020 - which one is best for your life?
From doodling on the pages with my favorite poems, to using them solely to keep track of work, the way I’ve used planners have changed a lot over the years. But I think that’s also because the designs have changed so much that they’ve become more than just a way to keep track of our schedules. Planners are super useful for keeping your life organized, productive, and fulfilling as well! Belle de Jour played a huge role in bringing about that change.

Ho ho, how is it already December?! With Christmas just a few weeks away, our beauty roundup is full of good tidings and holiday cheer. Freshly arrived! Trying vegan lipsticks by local newcomer Issy & Co.
Issy & Co. is a new local makeup brand that you’ve probably seen around on Instagram or from their celebrity endorser Alex Gonzaga. Apart from the star power though, I was particularly drawn to their minimalist packaging and thoughtful approach to beauty. Not only are they cruelty-free, gluten-free, paraben-free, their formulas are also vegan!
FYI, I am basically going to live in these two lipsticks until I die
I rarely ever finish lipsticks. I can’t even remember the last lipstick I used down to the base, which is why mini lipsticks delight me endlessly. Recently though I’ve come by two absolutely gorgeous lipsticks that deserve a spotlight here on Project Vanity, and a permanent place in my actual makeup vanity (which is btw a perpetual mess, the very definition of chaos, so favorites must ALWAYS in front and center!). These would be the Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Lipsticks in Rose Tea and Boldface (P1,900 on Lazada)- the ultimate MLBB and the ultimate red lipstick for me, respectively.
The Project Vanity Podcast, Ep 5 Recap: Happy Skin's Rissa Mananquil-Trillo on empowering through beauty
I have been following Project Vanity’s podcast since Episode 1 - it’s something I like to do when I have to move around a lot but still want to get my daily dose of beauty. From controversial topics like fake makeup and skin whitening, the PV podcast has also featured special guests such as Angela Dinglasan of Zenutrients and Nina Dizon of Colourette. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed listening to all of them but when Episode 5 was announced, I got pretty excited as Liz and Den got to sit down with Happy Skin’s Rissa Mananquil-Trillo.
These are the five local lip glosses under 600 pesos to try right now
As a 90s kid, I was thrilled to find lip gloss returning as a beauty trend in 2019. After seeing too many dry and cracking lip looks in the years that matte lipstick reigned supreme, I’m ready for juicy, shiny pouts to be back in business. And local brands are picking up the trend, too. Here are five local lip glosses under P600 that explore the different ways you can wear a super shiny lip!
Here are my new favorite bath staples as a curly mom-to-be
One of my favorite parts of the holiday is shopping for presents, and as a PV girl, I love giving gifts of beauty and wellness. Because I’m pregnant, I have to be extra careful of the products I use. I’ve also become extra sensitive to the scent of a lot of commercial brands so I’ve had to make a lot of changes to my routine. Zenutrients was one of the first brands I turned to for their naturally-derived ingredients and non-synthetic fragrances. And it looks like I will be gifting them this Christmas, too!

These are the three Kiehl's serums to try if you're dealing with holiday stress

If your skin is looking a bit worse for wear, I think you should check out Kiehl’s best-selling serums to help out with some possible skin issues!
Seaweed for your face? We test it using Human Nature’s Marine Caviar HydroMiracle line
From snail mucin to sunflower oil, many skincare lovers swear by certain natural ingredients as must-haves in their routine. While I don’t have a go-to just yet, this latest ingredient from Human Nature is a pretty strong contender. I usually have latô along with my favorite inihaw dishes, but I never thought it would be the star ingredient in Human Nature’s Marine Caviar HydroMiracle skincare line!

Review: Michelle Dy Basics Brush Sets for makeup beginners
With over 2.39 million YouTube subscribers and nearly 1 million Instagram followers, Michelle Dy is one of the biggest online local personalities around. I figured it was only a matter of time before she released her own beauty product, so I wasn’t surprised when she announced her makeup brush collaboration with Beauty Sensation!
Beauty Sensations x Michelle Dy Basics features two brush sets in pastel-colored pouches bearing Michelle’s embossed signature as well as a duo of makeup blending sponges. The kits are available in Watsons, and online via Lazada and Shopee.
Five ways to deal with "tumaba ka!" comments at holiday parties
The holidays has descended upon us in full force, so your calendar is probably full of office parties, family reunions, school reunions, friend parties, possibly even weddings and engagements. ‘Tis the season to see people you haven’t seen in a while and that includes your nosy Tita and noisy Tito! So, for lack of anything better to say or maybe even just to feel a weird sense of superiority over you, they are going to be making some nasty comments about your looks. This article is to prepare you for the inevitable: the yearly sucker punch to your gut, squarely in that tiny space where your self-esteem resides, as they say “Tumaba ka! (You got fat!)”
NARS revives the glitz and glamor of disco with their Studio 54 collection
I didn’t know what to expect when we received a very understated invitation from NARS Cosmetics to their holiday collection launch. All I knew was their theme was disco, as the collection was named Studio 54.
Sam Gallardo, NARS brand manager, kicked things off by reminding us what NARS was all about. More than beauty, NARS is all about crossing boundaries, defying rules, and inclusivity. As their founder Francois Nars once said, “I like beauty to be a bit edgy, not typical. For me, the only rule is looking good.” Sam shares that they wanted this attitude to be more relatable, so they decided to get local brand ambassadors who embody the brand.

Local beauty fans will also love the newest baby of one of our fave home-grown brands, so better read on to find out more!
Careline's new drops will take your makeup game to better than basic
I’m a bit of a late bloomer when it comes to makeup. I started using a tinted moisturizer (with SPF) and lip balm in high school, but I didn’t buy my first lipstick until I had already started working. Part of my challenge was a limited budget, but the other was that there weren’t really any brands that had a teen-friendly style and price tag. I think that this combination is what makes Careline such an appealing brand for me even though I’m so much older now - the colors are trendy, the products are current, and the quality has honestly been very impressive.
Out of curiosity, we went two weeks on the Avon Anew Reversalist Skincare Routine to see what will happen
Sharam sharam, sharam sharam... Only 90’s kids will get the reference, but that Donna Cruz song’s catchy portion has been stuck in my head since I received the Avon Anew Reversalist collection. The ageless beauty is the brand’s ambassador, and her flawless skin is definitely something to behold. The Anew Reversalist line is a brand best-seller and customer favorite, so I’ve taken on the two-week challenge to see if it can help my papery dry skin achieve even a fraction of Donna’s enduring awra.
Easy contour on a stick: A review of the Revlon Photoready Insta-Sculpt Duo
I have a naturally round and fleshy face. I honestly feel it looks fine in person, but it renders much, much larger on camera. I know I shouldn’t care, but it’s difficult not to care when people are always so surprised to see me in person not being as large as they thought I was! This is why contouring is a key part of my makeup routine. Thank goodness it doesn’t take a lot of time, especially with products like the Revlon Photoready Insta-Sculpt Duo (P775 for 7.6 grams on Lazada)!
