A close look at the Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Concentrate Matrix
Last week, I noticed this deep groove around the corner of my eyes that wasn’t there before. I felt rather concerned about it because it seemed to have happened overnight! That’s not true, of course, but I am aging and it is showing. I don’t think I’m worse off for it but I would like to soften my lines as they develop. I said to myself: it’s time to wear eye cream. And I mean really be consistent about it!
Beauty Roundup: Blythe by Careline lipsticks, makeup collaborations, a new ABH palette, and more!
Friday is finally here and it’s time for another beauty roundup, everyone! I don’t know if you remember but last week’s beauty roundup was quite short. This week is going to be the opposite, which is why it’s best to go right at it. Here are this week’s beauty news!
Hot Right Now: Trilogy, the OG clean skincare brand from New Zealand, is now in the PH
Clean beauty is all the rage these last few years, but did you know that it’s been around for decades? One of the OG skincare brands that paved the way is Trilogy, all the way from New Zealand! It was founded in 2002, almost twenty years ago, by sisters Catherine de Groot and Sarah Gibbs. They were looking for skincare that can help their sensitive skin and discovered that pure rosehip oil has a lot of benefits when it comes to moisturizing skin, nails, and hair, healing spots and scars, and easing stretch marks. How’s that for a wonder oil?
I made my own perfume using this 750-peso DIY kit from Lazada
I think it’s safe to say that a lot of us have picked up new hobbies in the last two years. Some have even started small businesses out of these freshly acquired skills. Luckily, accessibility to these activities are at an all time high, thanks to the internet.
One thing that I found on Lazada randomly is this DIY kit for those looking to start their own fragrance hobby or business. The Chemworld Fragrance Factory’s Fragrance Play DIY Perfume Blending Starter Kit (P750) has two types of starter kits. The Fragrance Play is the more basic one, while Starter Kit A (P3,865) is the pro-level version that’s meant for those planning to start their own fragrance mixing business.
Beauty Roundup: EM Cosmetics new eyeshadows, an eye cream for the face, and the newest celebrity beauty brand!
Happy, Happy Friday, everyone! I hope you’re all having a good week so far. In case you need a quick pick-me-up, well, you’re in the right place. Speaking of quick, it’s going to be relatively short beauty roundup today. Let’s get started, shall we?
Here are Olay’s Serums for every skin concern
Our work-from-home setup has really changed the way we work. Being on-call even during the wee hours of the night can be unkind to our skin. Our usual skincare products like our cleansers and moisturizers, although important, aren’t enough to address our skin concerns. We need to use more potent, concentrated products to really target our specific skin concerns and have glowing skin through these stressful times. These potent, concentrated potions are serums.
OVW Makeup Brushes from Shopee: Are these cheap tools actually worth your money?
I first heard rumbles about a really good AND cheap makeup brush brand available in Shopee months ago, but didn’t act on it until recently. It was more because I’ve been using pretty much the same makeup brushes in the last two years and just wanted a change! Also I’m always on the lookout for a good deal, for diamonds in the rough. And so here we are.
OVW Makeup Brushes are China-made tools that are shockingly cheap. Would you believe that I spent P790 for 17 full-sized brushes, and that’s including shipping already?
Ten reasons to start wearing makeup again
We are all coping with the pandemic differently, and our own way of doing so is valid. In the context of makeup, some of us have decided to take a break from makeup and that’s completely fine.
Now, if you’re thinking about wearing makeup again but are needing that extra push, then here are ten reasons why you should start wearing makeup again!
Beauty Roundup: Bigger and badder brows from Issy & Co., jelly lips from Detail Cosmetics, mattes from Maybelline, and the arrival of Thai beauty brand Baby Bright!
It’s the end of another working week and you know what that means - it’s time for another beauty roundup! Can I just say how happy it makes me that we get to enjoy beauty releases on a weekly basis? The beauty industry is truly a gift that keeps on giving! Okay, time for this week’s latest!
It’s my first time to try Dermalogica. Here’s what I really think.
I’ve heard a lot of good things about Dermalogica, but I haven’t tried it until only a couple of months ago. I’ve always thought that the brand was a bit under the radar despite being around for some time now, with not much to offer my informed skincare routine. How wrong I was! I’m glad the Dermalogica PH team reached out and asked if I wanted to do a skin consultation. At that time I was struggling with flaky skin and blemishes (the former new, the latter not) so they recommended two products for me to try out.
The Liese Creamy Bubble Color is probably the easiest hair dye to apply by yourself. Here’s how!
Part of our “new normal”-acquired skills is learning to DIY things that we usually outsource – manicures, pedicures, foot spas, and facials. I also know some who have braved cutting their own hair learning from TikTok tutorials. While I still leave the scissors to the professionals, hair coloring at home is something that I have learned to embrace.
Beauty Roundup: Blushes and highlighters from Strokes Beauty Lab, sunscreens from blk cosmetics, a beauty access card from NARS, and more!
Can you believe we’ve just entered ber month season? Talks about the holiday season have already started, and that’s no surprise because we truly celebrate Christmas the longest. Speaking of celebrate, we’re celebrating these beauty releases this week from some of our favorite brands!
Drugstore Find: Why the Aveeno Skin Relief Moisturizing Lotion is the best hand cream ever
The older I get, the drier my skin becomes. Is this also true for you? I’m only 33, which to my mind is really not that old in this modern age of medical wonders, but I feel like my skin is not bouncing back as much as it used to. Damage takes longer to heal; gentle neglect shows more easily than before. I’ve been using heavier moisturizers on my face and so I thought it’s time to apply the same principle to my hands!
Beauty Roundup: Matte lipsticks from Vice Cosmetics, Happy Skin’s new skincare releases, nudes from Charlotte Tilbury, and ColourPop’s latest collaboration!
Happy Friday, everyone! Are you looking forward to a little breather this weekend? Remember, it’s important to rest and tinker around with your passions during your well-deserved break. Here’s what to look forward to in beauty!
How I got my youthful skin back
I’m now in my early 30’s and I’ve already noticed that my skin is not how it once was. It’s more dry, I have more fine lines and wrinkles, and I noticed that my skin is starting to sag in places. I always look for products that will help me keep my skin plump or youthful. Recently, I got the chance to try Olay Regenerist Collagen Peptide-24 to help my skin bounce back to its former youthfulness.
My love-hate relationship with my menstrual cup
While we first featured menstrual cups in 2016 here at Project Vanity, it wasn’t until last year that I personally started using one. The pandemic made me do it. It was such a hassle to buy my favorite pads and tampons as they’re not easily available in most supermarkets, plus I felt like I’m adding too much plastic waste whenever I bleed. That’s why I decided to get a cheap menstrual cup from BeautyMNL called Anytime. I wasn’t excited about the Bible verse in the packaging - somehow it felt like it was mildly judging me for inserting their own product into my vagina (weird) - but it was a start.
Beauty Roundup: New Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink shades, ABH concealers, and astrology eyeshadow quads from ColourPop!
Time for another beauty roundup! I know, I know. It’s Friday again. Time truly flies, right? For this week’s beauty roundup, we’re talking about the Maybelline Brooklyn Blush Collection, the Anastasia Beverly Hills Magic Touch Concealer, and the ColourPop Astrology Eyeshadow Quads!
Shimmer is out, gloss is in: The case for glowing with gloss the modern way
There was a time when all of us collectively jumped into the highlighter rabbit hole. We were all about the shiniest, flashiest highlighters we could get our hands on at some point! We became the connoisseurs of shimmer as we waited for one highlighter collection after another from our favorite brands. But those days are gone. Now, it’s all about gloss.
Get your youthful skin back with Olay
Do you notice that after a good night’s sleep, you wake in the morning with plump and bouncy skin but then lose plumpness throughout the day? Now we can bounce back and get bouncy and youthful skin that lasts for 24 hours with Olay Collagen Peptide-24.
Trying out the new Shiseido Ultimune with ImuGenerationRED Technology: Will it still be my HG serum?
The Shiseido Ultimune serum has been my go-to serum since 2014. I like how it consistently makes my skin clear and glowy. Even with an award-winning formula already (200 awards worldwide and counting!), Shiseido still strives to improve the Ultimune - thus coming out with the Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate version 3.0 (P6,000/50ml) this 2021.
